ABOUT THE LVCPD

LVCPD was created March 2013 and is funded through a parcel fee collected annually with your property tax.  The annual fee is currently $200 per parcel.  It was created to aid in crime prevention and to enhance the safety and security of district residents by providing for an increase in the presence of law enforcement personnel.

FUNDING:  When voting to approve a crime prevention and security district, residents agree to a maximum per parcel charge for funding the district. LVCPD is funded through a parcel fee which means all residents benefit equally from the additional security the district provides and therefore each pay the same amount. The City remits the monies collected directly to a district’s board. For districts that are funded through a parcel fee, the City retains one percent of the amount collected as a collection fee.

COMPOSITION: The Lake Vista Crime Prevention District is made up of seven members.  Board positions are four-year terms. The board of directors of the LVPOA appoints two members; The state representatives who represent the area which comprises the district appoint two members; The state senators who represent the area which comprises the district appoint two members; and the council member who represents the area which comprises the district appoints one member.
